1st:
We ate a delicious dinner of soups, salads, fruit, egg rolls, and sandwiches.
2nd:
We watched the Jazz game and ate lots of yummy "junk" foods: Carmel popcorn, peanuts, fudge, cookies...
3rd:
Played a few rounds of Bananagrams. If you have not played it, it is like speed Scrabble. You have a bunch of tiles and you are making your own personal crossword puzzle.
We broke into three teams and played a few rounds. Then the winners of those teams got together and played the Ultimate Championship!!
Then came THE Penny Game. Everyone had two pennies in their hand. We all guess how many pennies will be out in the circle. The person who is right on or closest is out and their pennies are taken out of the number of pennies in the group. When it gets down to two people, the person who guesses wrong has to do something embarassing. In years past someone had to go to a neighbors house and ask for a roll of toilet paper. This year we took the roll of toilet paper to the neighbor we went to last year. Everyone is so relieved to get out. This year I got out in the first round with guessing 35 pennies, and Mark got out in the second round with guessing 28 pennies.
To continue the festivities, we had a Gingerbread Derby. We were divided into 4 teams and we built something out of graham crackers and candy. Mark and I were on the same team. Here is our creation--Obamaland 2009
Happy New Year!!

Ah Speed Scrabble - did you know there's an online version?
