Lucy's mom came to the front door and told her it was time to come in. Sitting on the table to greet Lucy was a mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream filling the top to over flowing and two chocolate chip cookies. This was Lucy's favorite snack! She couldn't get her snow gear off fast enough. As she was sipping her hot chocolate, Lucy saw a big box wrapped in shiny wrapping paper with a big red bow sitting under the Christmas tree.
"I wonder who that box is for?" thought Lucy. Lucy couldn't gulp down her hot chocolate and inhale the cookies fast enough. As soon as she was done she ran over to the tree and looked at the box with the big red bow on it. It was for her! Lucy tried to pick up the box, but it was so big and heavy that her little five year old body could not lift it. Luckily tomorrow was Christmas Day and she could open it now.
Remembering what her mom told her that morning about Santa not coming until she was asleep, Lucy ran to her room, put on her pajamas, and got into bed. Lucy shut her eyes tight and tried to go to sleep. However, it was only three o'clock in the afternoon, so she woke up seconds later and it wasn't morning.
As the night wore on, Lucy couldn't keep her eyes off the box with the big red bow. Finally Mom said it was time to go to bed. Lucy ran upstairs to her room and jumped in bed. The next thing Lucy knew was her mom was waking her up saying that Santa had come. Lucy jumped out of bed and ran downstairs. She couldn't believe her eyes! There were so many presents under the tree. She ran over to the tree and found the shiny big box with the big red bow, and started unwrapping it.
It was what she had always wanted! A big kid bike. This bike had two wheels on it. It was bright pink with purple flowers on it. In the box was also a white basket with pink and purple flowers on it and pom-poms to put on her handle bars!
This was the best Christmas ever.
