Happy Easter

This is an excerpt from Elder Hollands talk during the April 2009 Sunday Morning session of conference. For full text of the talk, click here. It was such a wonderful talk, one of my favorites.

"Now I speak very carefully, even reverently, of what may have been the most difficult moment in all of this solitary journey to Atonement. I speak of those final moments for which Jesus must have been prepared intellectually and physically but which He may not have fully anticipated emotionally and spiritually—that concluding descent into the paralyzing despair of divine withdrawal when He cries in ultimate loneliness, 'My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?'" (Elder Holland, Apr. 2009 Conference)

There are times when we feel alone, but the Savior has been through it all. The Atonement provided a way for all to live again and to have comfort when we need it most. We are never alone.

"For His Atonement to be infinite and eternal, He had to feel what it was like to die not only physically but spiritually, to sense what it was like to have the divine Spirit withdraw, leaving one feeling totally, abjectly, hopelessly alone."

Elder Holland said it so eloquently. I could not say it any better. As he says near the end, Jesus did this so we would not have to walk our path alone. We will always have a companion with us as we go through life. Whenever we feel alone and need a companion Heavenly Father and Jesus will be right there with us. We just need to do our part to be able to feel their companioship.
